The iconic first generation Ford Mustangs need no introduction, as they are the most recognizable classic cars in existence. With its timeless style, and flexibility to be a cruiser or a hotrod, it has an exceptionally wide audience and stands out clearly amongst its peers. Add to that Ford’s crowning achievement of the legendary bullet proof Windsor 289 engine paired with the C4 transmission, and you have an unstoppable combination. This 1966 Ford Mustang is our dream car, and has the V8 289 and C4 automatic transmission in it. Purchased about 7 years ago, it has been a wonderful bucket list item for us, but as time moves on and our lifestyle has changed, so it is time to part with this car. To be certain, this pony is a driver and not a show car. We specifically set out to have and own a classic car that could take us around town or to any neighboring state without issue. I’m happy to say that with some renovation work that was performed over the years, that dream was fully realized. This past year my wife and I took the car to California and back with no issue. Features: 1) Completely rust free vehicle, you heard that correctly, there is not a spot of rust on this car. It spent the majority of its life in California and Arizona. 2) Original glass all around, with the Ford Car-Lite etched logo and production numbers 3) Beautiful interior: Original steering wheel, seatbelts, rear view mirror and transmission shifter. Perfect headliner and dash, newer carpet, front seats, and hump hugger console. Renovated Items (most within the past year, performed by Scottsdale Restorations): 1) Top to bottom 289 engine health check; compression, leak down test, valve train and bottom end. All check out within spec, has strong compression, no smoking, oil consumption or excessive fuel consumption (gets about 12-17 mpg, pretty good for a 289 V8). 2) C4 Transmission check and flush 3) Rear differential checked, flushed and filled 4) Large Milodon 8 quart zinc oil pan 5) Complete electrical renovation, new wiring harness and all endpoint connections replaced 6) New alternator & regulator 7) New starter motor 8) New ignition key switch, and relay 9) New battery 10) New Dakota Digital instrument panel (I still have the original panel) 11) Completely new Riedtech front end suspension, front end was tastefully lowered 12) New power steering and components 13) New rear end suspension and leaf springs 14) New front and rear bearings 15) New disc brakes all around 16) New Legandary Customs steel wheels and BF Goodrich tires 17) Carburetor cleaned and rebuilt 18) New electronic ignition components and ignition coil 19) New oil pressure sender 20) New water temp probe 21) New Be Cool aluminum radiator, overflow tank, water pump and hoses 22) New bellhousing, and belts 23) New gas tank sender 24) New electric fuel pump 25) New gas cap 26) New side mirrors 27) New rubber gaskets all around 28) Door locks rebuilt 29) Window regulators rebuilt 30) New heater core and blower motor Please message me with any questions you may have, and if you would like to meet and see the car.
